Headmasters of three different Government-run primary schools and former lanjigarh Block Resource Centre Coordinator (BRCC) were arrested by Vigilance on Saturday on charges of misappropriation of funds under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan bridge course fund. Former lanjigarh BRCC Binod Bihari Rath, Sanjanaki Heju UP School Headmaster Susil Kumar Mahapatra, Kaneswar UP School Headmaster Santosh Dash and Dongorgam UP School Headmaster Prabhati Nayak were forwarded to court.

Upset over the miss utilisation of fund, parents and guardians filed petitions at the Vigilance wing alleging that the Headmasters of the schools in connivance with the other influential people swallowed funds up. “After technical supervision, it was found that not a single pie was spent. The rest of the sanctioned grant amount was found to have been misused,” said Vigilance DSP Satyaban Mahananda who conducted a probe following the allegation.

Meanwhile, two of the arrested persons claimed that they have anticipatory bells from the High Court. After the Vigilance DSP submitted his report about the mass irregularities of the Government sponsored scheme the district administration has decided to initiate a Vigilance inquiry at other schools too. Each primary schools under lanjigarh block received Rs3.96 lakh each under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
