Three IAS officers, who were district Collectors of Subarnapur, Kandhamal and Nuapada during 2013-14 and earlier chosen for the Chief Minister’s Excellence and Innovation Award, were not given the award, much to the worry of people of the concerned districts.
They were not invited to the award giving ceremony held at the State Secretariat in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Nine officers, including the Nuapada DRDA PD, were given the awards.
Earlier, the three officers were invited to the award giving ceremony held on September 14, 2014 last but the decision was changed at the last moment. It is learnt that the Government withdrew its decision on the ground that the IAS officers belong to the Central Government. “It is a ridiculous decision. The Collectors are behind the success,” said one of the officials after receiving the award. The DRDA PD was awarded for his work in implementation of Rural Housing Schemes (IAY & BPGY) group category. Each award included an efficiency certificate, a medal and Rs 1 lakh.
