Three senior students of a private residential college in Nayagarh were detained in connection with the alleged ragging of a junior student, who is now undergoing treatment at a hospital for severe cut injuries.
Nayagarh SDPO Balaram Satpathy said the detainees of the Divine Residential College used to harass the minor victim, a Plus II student. “The victim is a juvenile and we have started probe into the incident and interrogating the three senior students,” said Satpathy.
Meanwhile, Higher Education Department sought a report from the college authorities by Tuesday on the issue. On the other hand college authorities have decided to rusticate the three students for ragging hostel roommate.
“They used to eat my food which I kept in my trunk forcefully. They bite me and cut my legs with blades,” said the victim. College president Kamalakanta Sahu said the institute would bear the medical expenses of the victim student.
