An international seminar entitled ‘MINEXPRO 2015’ was organised by the Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists (SGAT) in the association with Union Ministry of Mines, here on Friday. Over 100 delegates participated.
The three-day seminar was inaugurated by Steel and Mines and labour and Employment Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik and was aimed at outlining new developments in the mining sector in India and also Odisha.
Notably, in the recent past, the Centre has implemented the MMDR Act-2015 and framed different rules to facilitate grant of mineral concessions through transparent auction route for a period of 50 years, which would help in preparing a long term plan for mineral development of the country and also of the mineral bearing areas. The seminar assumes importance in this context.
A key note address on “Innovations in hydrocarbon exploration in Mahanadi Basin” was delivered by Oil and Natural Commission General Manager (Geology) Dr SK Das.
