Three more companies of the Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) were deployed in the Gudguda forests under Meghapal panchayat in Sambalpur district following two encounters that took place between security forces there.

Sambalpur SP Pratik Mohanty said this at a Press conference here. Quoting intelligence inputs, Mohanty said Maoists are trying to strengthen their base in the Sambalpur-Sundergarh-Deogarh zone. “Since the Maoists are trying their best to disrupt the ensuing elections, combing operation has been intensified to foil their attempts,” he said, adding that extra security measures have also been taken at the sensitive polling booths where there is a possibility of disruption by Maoists. Mohanty also informed that a case has been registered against Maoist leader, Junu Dehuri of Tamparsingha village and 47 others at the Jujumura police station for their involvement in Maoist activities.
