Three Cong leaders leave for Delhi

The efforts for a change in the Pradesh Congress Committee leadership resumed again after a few weeks as three senior State party leaders left for New Delhi on Sunday reportedly to meet AICC leaders, maybe including vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Niranjan Patnaik, who is in the forefront in the race for a new PCC chief, leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra and former MP Ananta Sethy headed for Delhi by plane.

Mishra told reporters that they were going to Delhi on their own as they have not been called by the party high command.

Patnaik, however, tried to avoid the PCC leadership issue and said he was going to Chandigarh via Delhi.

Sethy asserted that about 90 per cent of the State Congress rank and file wants Niranjan Patnaik to head the PCC so that the party is revived in the State.
