Tension prevailed at the Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel Post-Graduate Institute of Paediatrics, popularly called Sishu Bhawan, here on
Friday morning when three children, undergoing treatment, died one after other in a span of 12 hours.
When the parents of the deceased lodged complaints at the nearby lalbagh police station alleging that the deaths were due to negligence in treatment, the hospital authorities soon ordered an internal inquiry to be conducted by a team of four doctors.
"The team has been asked to submit its report within
24 hours," said Sishu Bhawan Superintendent Prof Niranjan Mohanty. But before ordering the inquiry, Prof Mohanty had, however, ruled out the allegations of negligence in treatment. "I have gone through the prescriptions, clinical reports and the management of treatment of each case," he asserted.
