A woman, who is working as a Revenue Inspector (RI) in Kiralaga revenue office in Sundargarh, met Sundargarh SP R Prakash on Saturday and lodged a complaint against her husband for threatening to kill her.
The RI has been living separately from her husband since last three months, after allegedly being driven away from her in-laws’ house. Although, she had lodged a complaint in Bhasma police station two months ago, alleging dowry torture against her husband, father in-law, mother in-law and sister in-law, they had managed to get anticipatory bail from the Odisha High Court.
Sources said lucy Majhi (28), the RI, had married to one Tapan Dharua (32), a native of Mangaspur village under Bhasma police station of Sundargarh. The couple has a female child. Majhi alleged before police that her husband Tapan Dharua, her father in-law Bhuban Dharua, mother in-law Rukmini Dharua and sister in-law Sanadei Dharua were torturing her for dowry. In the latest, Majhi met Sundargarh Superintendent of Police R Prakash on Saturday and brought fresh allegation that her husband had threatened to kill her and also requested to provide necessary police protection.
As per her complaint, in her absence, her husband Tapan had also developed an illicit relationship with another girl, who also happens to be one of the cousins of Tapan. Majhi reportedly had met that girl and had told her not to have such relationship with her husband. This had irked Tapan, following which he had met a friend of Majhi and had told her to communicate to Majhi that if she further intervened in his relationship with the girl, he would finish her.
“She met me and lodged a verbal complaint. I have told her to submit a written complaint in local police station to take necessary action against her husband,” said SP RPrakash.
