Sankaracharya of the Puri Govardhan Peeth Swami Nischalananda Saraswati on Sunday disapproved of celebrating the English New Year by Hindus.
He said observance of the English New Year is not part of the Hindu tradition.
The Sankaracharya informed that the Aditya Bahini of the Govardhan Peeth would stage a silent protest against the New Year celebrations in front of the Shree Jagannath temple in Puri on Monday.
