The Bhuban police seized a truck at Balichandrapur recently while it was transporting smuggled coals from Baunsakana village of Bhuban to Paradip. The police also arrested four persons in this connection and sent them to judicial custody. In another case, the Parjang police seized a smuggled coal-laden truck and arrested nine on the charges of running illegal coal depots and for their alleged involvement in coal smuggling activities. A news was published in The Pioneer on January 7 that around hundred numbers of smuggled coal-laden trucks are plying daily on the NH-53.
