A thief was found dead under suspicious circumstances after committing burglary from a house at Bainsia village under the Gondia police station in Dhenkanal district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kedar Majhi (35) of Goradapala village in the same area.
According to reports, Majhi and his two associates had entered into the house of one Narendra Pati on Thursday night with an intention of loot.
While Majhi was nabbed by locals, his two accomplices fled the spot. They tied Majhi with a pole and informed police regarding the incident. However, police didn’t turn up.
Majhi was found dead in a hanging state on Friday morning, following which police reached the spot and started investigation.
It was yet to be ascertained whether Majhi was killed or he committed suicide.
