The Theosophical Order of Service (TOS), Mahabharata group celebrated its annual meeting at the IDCOl Auditorium here on Sunday.
Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb was present on the occasion as the chief guest and TOS National Director Bl Bhattacharya attended the meeting as the guest of honour. TOS, Mahabharata group president Dr Deepa Padhi delivered the welcome speech, read out the annual report of the organisation and narrated its aims and works.
The TOS is an international philanthropic organisation founded by Dr Annie Besant in 1908 for universal brotherhood, she said. A physically-challenged old man and a multi-disabled boy Kahna were presented with two wheelchairs. The organisation gave schoolbags, teddy bears and dress to 20 children of Mission Ashra.
The Besant Selfless Service Award 2013 was presented to Sushant Sahoo for his selfless social work. Till now, Sushant has been able to trace 300 missing persons and give them back to their families. President of TOS Odisha Region Amiyabala Mohapatra was conferred with a lifetime achievement award.
On the occasion, a souvenir of the organisation ‘Seva’ and a book ‘Sadguru O Sadhanara Patha’ were released by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb. Former Secretary of Odisha Sahitya Akademi Prof Raj Kishore Mishra chaired the meeting. Among others, Dr Aditya Mohanty and Sunita Dash were present.
