Theatre festival ‘Natyadhara’ concluded here at the Bhanjakala Mandap with much fanfare on Wednesday.

Play Tathapi Chanakya was staged on the concluding day. Junior and senior artists of the Barnali Theatre presented the play.

The play stressed on the character of Chanakya to restore social justice in the society as there is injustice everywhere. The play made the audience glue to their seats.

Writer and director of the play Nabin Kumar Parida brilliantly intertwined Sanskrit play Rakshasa by Maharaj Vishakha Dutta, Odia play Jane Rajathile by Dr Bijay Mishra and Odia play Athacha Chanakya by Dr Ratnakar Chaini.

The protagonists of the one-hour and forty five minutes long play were Sonika Sahoo who played the role of Draupadi and Nabin Kumar Parida played the role Chanakya. The other characters too put their best effort in this play. Noted theatre artist Pragnya Ranjan Khatua in a king’s role tickled the ribs of the audience.

While watching this well rehearsed play, it seemed artists were able to establish contact with the audience. Their body movement, use of stage and above all discharging the subtle nuances of dialogue delivery were undoubtedly praiseworthy.

Notably, light arrangement by Sanjay Pradhan and the stage design by Pandia and Sathi played a pivotal role in making the play success.
