More than 50 silk sarees, each costing Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000, kept in a store room of lord Baladevjew temple, were damaged due to negligence of the servitors.
These were donated by the devotees. According to sources, the lords’ silk sarees, valuable ornaments and different vesha items are generally kept in the store room, located at the premises of Baladevjew temple. The silk sarees generally kept in a sub standard dilapidated wooden frame were damaged due to termites. The damaged sarees would not be less than worth Rs 2 lakh.
When contacted, Baladevjew Endowment Trust Board EO Niranjan Behera stated that he had directed an inquiry in the matter. Whoever found guilty would be liable to punitive actions, assured Behera.
Meanwhile, the store keeper, after finding the silk sarees damaged by termites soaked them under the sun and cleaned the wooden rack by taking termite control steps, added Behera.
