Tension erupted between the supporters of the Rajnagrar MlA and the Block chairman over distribution of work orders under Gopabandhu Gramina Yojana (GGY) and CC road projects approved by palli sabhas for the year 2013-14.
According to Rajnagar BDO Rajendra Narayan Pradhan, the block authorities invited Rajnagar MlA Alekh Jena, all the sarpanches and Panchayat Samiti (PS) members and the block chairman through official letters requesting them to attend the work order distribution event on Monday.
“While the work orders were about to be distributed, the block chairman came to the office with her some sarpanchs, PS members and asked why the authority did not intimate her,” said Pradhan, adding, even a couple of sarpanchs locked the conference hall.
Sources said as many as 55 work orders under GGY and CC road projects are to be distributed in the block. Only 12 work orders had been distributed. However, on being informed Kendrapada Sub-Collector rushed to the spot and managed to restore normalcy. Meanwhile, the block authorities have decided to distribute the remaining work orders on June 4 in presence of the local MlA and the block chairman.
