Tension prevailed at Paradip as truckers of three different truck owners’ associations opposed the transportation of petroleum coke (Pet coke) from Indian Oil Corporation ltd’s refinery (IOCl) to Paradip Port by the vehicles affiliated to the Atal Bihari Tipper Association (ABTP).
The protestors detained 15 hiwa trucks laden with pet coke of the ABTP decrying the IOCl move in giving contract to ABTP for transportation of the pet coke from the IOCl to the Paradip Port.
Truckers of Paradip Truck Owners’ Association, Jagatsinghpur Truck Owners’ Association and Jagannath Truck Owners’ Association jointly protested the “arbitrary” decision of the IOCl.
They demanded that the IOCl scrapped the contract with newly formed ABTP and award the same to them as they have been in the business for years.
Petroleum coke is a carbonaceous solid delivered from oil refinery coker units or other cracking processes.
