The non-Gazetted staff members of the East Coast Railways (ECoR) headquarters and CRW Mancheswar on Friday condemned a doctor’s negligence which caused death of Banaja Nayak (35), wife of a railway employee.
The deceased, wife of Rajat Kumar Gochhayat, was admitted at the Central Hospital, Mancheswar after she complained of pain in chest and stomach for past six months. She was operated for removal of cyst in ovary by Dr GC Dash, but after his operation, he immediately left the hospital citing he had availed prior sanctioned leave.
When she felt uneasy, she neither was shifted to the ICU nor did any deputed doctor attend her. Finally, she died of pain, the family members alleged. The railway staff members in a Press release demanded an inquiry by the railway administration to fix the negligence. They also demanded the administration to seize patent’s records, suspension of the concerned doctors and initiation of other remedial actions to stop doctor’s negligence.
