Tension ran high on the premises of VSS Medical College & Hospital at Burla after a patient died at the Government-run hospital due to alleged medical negligence on Saturday night.
Patients and relatives of the deceased ransacked the Casualty Department of the hospital demanding stringent action against the erring doctors.
Following the incident, PG doctors of the hospital went on a strike demanding arrest of the people involved in the ruckus. Besides, they also threatened to quit from Casualty service if their demands are not met.
Tension continued to prevail in the hospital even if the Hospital Superintendent, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) had managed to bring the situation under control late on Saturday night. Police forces were deployed in the hospital to avoid any untoward incident.
