Tension again gripped the BJB Autonomous College here on Saturday as students locked all the halls, main gate and the Principal’s chamber demanding rustication of a group of students for attacking four students on May 3.
The students led by College Students’ Union president lagnajit Patra even ransacked the college notice board protesting the inordinate delay on the part of the college authorities to act against the errant students.
However, the Badagada police and the college authorities managed to pacify the students by assuring them of stringent action against the culprits at the earliest.
On May 3, four students, Prateek Raj Panigrahi, Prateek Satpathy, Saishree Divya lok Nayak, Khagendra Majhi, all of final-year BCom, were attacked by a rival group and about 20 nonstudents.
“Five days have passed into the brutal attack. Neither the college authorities take action against the errant students nor do police arrest the outsiders involved in the attack,” said the Students’ Union president.
Though the police have registered an FIR against three students and named many others as accused, no arrest has been made as yet.
Principal Md Nawaz Hassan said the college administration has set up an enquiry committee and would take stringent action against the culprits.
