Tender process to be videographed in K'pada

Realising that substandard works were made in various developmental projects in the district due to tender fixing and interference of gangsters in settling tenders, SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye recently held a meeting with the senior officials of Engineering Departments to sort out the issue. According to Gajbhiye, as it has been found that contractors managed to get contract work by fixing tender in most of the Government sponsored developmental works, transparency is a far cry. Due to tender fixing, several contractors and agencies failed to participate in the process.

To curb tender fixing, he asked senior officials of the Engineering Departments to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras in their respective offices for videography of tender process. He asked to affix a board by declaring the office premises as restricted zone.

“I have also asked the officials to maintain registers by ensuring entry and exit time of persons, who visit the office,” stated Gajbhiye. The officials are also to provide their mobile numbers and use their identity cards while in office. It would help police track calls so that it would be easy for police to nab the trespassers and goons moving in the offices.
