The Odisha Medical Employees’ Association staged a dharna in front of the MKCG Medical College

Hospital Superintendent’s office on Tuesday for the second time in protest against the college authorities’ recent notification for filling up of 115 Grade IV posts on contractual basis.

While many of the 270 sanctioned Grade IV posts are lying vacant, the college authorities recently published a notification to fill up 115 posts on contractual basis. However, many employees, who have been working on temporary basis for over 20 years, have opposed the move as they have been sidelined.

“The notification is against terms and conditions on basis of which temporary employees were appointed. The notification should be lifted and staffs who working on temporary basis should be made permanent,” demanded association president Sukanta Mukhi.

He said though the association had earlier submitted memorandums to the Health Secretary and the Chief Minister, yet they have received any response.

Among others, advisor Rabi Rath, Pradeep Behera, lalu Mohan Behera and Surendra Nayak were present.
