Temples reopening soon in State

Published on:

About nine months after closure of religious institutions across the State due to the Covid-19 situation, a process has begun for reopening of temples and other religious sites.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy informed this in a tweet on Monday.

The district Collectors have been empowered to take decisions to reopen the religious institutions in their areas after holding talks with all stakeholders and preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), he mentioned in the twit.

Notably, by an order of State Government, all religious institutions are closed since March last week as part of precautions to contain spread of coronavirus.

Following a decline in single-day Covid-19 positive cases in the State, the authorities are now mulling to reopen the temples and other religious institutions for devotees.

A decision has already been taken to reopen the Jagannath Temple in Puri on December 23.
