All 524 Group D and C temporary employees working under the Forest Department will sit on an dharna and hunger strike in front of Minister Bijayshree Routray here on December 19 to press for regularisation of their jobs and increase in salary.

“A total of 524 Group D and C employees have been working on a paltry salary for the last 30 years. The Minister and the Secretary are not listening to our demand. When we met the Minister for the last time, the later told us that our issues would be considered by the next Government to be formed after 2019 elections.

With no option left, we have decided to sit on an indefinite dharna and hunger strike until out demands are met,” said Odisha Bana TS Group D/C Government Employees Association president Balabhadra Swain and  general secretary Janesh Digal at a Press meet here on Sunday.

They demanded that all 524 employees be upgraded to Work Charged employees and given basic salary, dearness allowance and all other facilities as per the Forest Board provisions. They demanded that minimum salary of Rs 16,600 be paid to these employees as per the 7th Pay Commission structure.
