A further drop in temperature in most parts of the State on Monday gave people the much-needed respite from the scorching summer heat. The mercury had crossed 40 degree Celsius at 10 places in the State on Sunday, but it substantially dropped on Monday to only two places, Bhubaneswar and Malkangiri. The capital city of Bhubaneswar became the hottest place of the State at 40.7 degree, followed by Malkangiri’s 40 degree. Met officials predicted light rains and thundershowers at a few places in next 24 hours.
