The mercury continued to plummet below 15 degree Celsius in as many as 15 places in the State on Tuesday, the Regional Office of the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) here said on Wednesday.
Phulbani was the coldest at 9.5 degree Celsius followed by Daringbadi and Sundargarh 11 degree, Bhawanipatna 11.5 degree, Koraput 11.6 degree, Jharsuguda 12.6 degree, Malkangiri 13 degree, Angul 13.6 degree, Keonjhar 13.6 degree, Talcher 14 degree, Baripada 14 degree, Balangir 14.3 degree, Sambalpur 14.7 degree and Nayagarh and Boudh 15 degree.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 15.8 degree and 17.6 degree, respectively.
Cold wave condition in the State is likely to intensify as the night and day temperatures are expected to fall by a few degrees, especially in the interior areas, in the coming days, the IMD said.
