About 3,000 villagers of Telkoi on Wednesday agitated in front of the Telkoi Block Office demanding fulfilment of their five-point charter of demands.
The agitation had been called by the Telkoi Joint Action Committee and coordinated by the Progressive Citizens’ Forum. The villagers took out a procession from the Telkoi bungalow to the block office shouting slogans relating to their demands.
The demands included declaration of the entire Tekoi block as drought-affected blocks, stopping of the implementation of Chakradhar Dam, filling up of vacancies in different Public Health Centres and CHCs, proper functioning of the electrical grid substation and providing irrigation facilities and drinking water facilities in villages.
Former MlA Pranaballab Nayak, AIUTC general secretary Prabhat Mishra and Akshay Pradhan and Dhirendra Rout from the Progressive Citizens’ Forum were among those who led the rally. A memorandum was submitted to the Government through the local BDO.
