Telkoi BJD MlA Bedabyasa Nayak, who was attacked by party activists at Gundichaghagi in Keonjhar district recently, met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence here on Wednesday seeking security for himself.
The MlA accompanied by his mother met Patnaik and apprised him about the attack in detail.
Sources said Nayak alleged that supporters of a local Minister belonging to the district (Badri Narayan Patra) and the local BJD MP had thrashed him.
“They have been opposing me since I was elected to Assembly because they did not want me to contest the election on BJD ticket. I was trying my best to make yp with them, but failed,” Nayak said.
The MlA said his good terms with the dalit and tribal communities do not go well with the Minister and the MP. “They also do not like me as I belong to a dalit family,” he added.
The legislator was critically injured in the attack by the party workers at a party meeting at Gundichaghagi on August 28. He had sustained severe injuries on his back and head and was admitted to the Harichandanpur health centre and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, the Harichandanpur police arrested seven accused in the case.
