Tehsildar-NKS activists row deepens in Jagatsinghpur

The ongoing row between Balikuda Tehsildar and Navanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) further intensified on Friday after the police registered a case against 10 NKS activists who had allegedly ransacked the Tehsil office and misbehaved with the

Tehsildar during an agitation held at Balikuda three days ago.

Reports said that the NKS activists had resorted to an agitation in front of the Balikuda Tehsil office on Wednesday last pressing for their demands but the tehsil authority did not heed. The irate activists allegedly entered the tehsil office and ransacked it.

They misbehaved with Tehsildar Paresh Kumar Nayak who later lodged an FIR at the Balikuda police station. The police proposed to resolve the case amicably and invited both the Tehsildar and the NKS leaders for a negotiation on Friday. Responding to the invitation, both the parties had gone for a discussion at the Balikuda police station where the NKS leaders insisted on an apology from the Tehsildar for his rude behavior against them. In reply, Tehsildar Nayak pleaded his innocence and refuted the allegations against him.

As both parties did not budge, basing on the complaint lodged by the Tehsildar, the police registered a case against 10 NKS activists. NKS leader Seshdev Nanda threatened agitation if any action was taken against their sympathisers.
