Pritiman Mishra, a Class IX student of the Stewart School here, is leaving for Bangalore on Wednesday to participate in the South Asian finals of the Horlicks Wizkid competition beginning from November 11.
For the competition, Pritiman has prepared a project that aims to wipe tears and bring cheers on the face of hundreds of underprivileged inmates of an orphanage here, with which he has been able to establish a strong bond ever since he rescued a mentally-challenged orphan girl from a train three years ago.
“Since I am closely associated with the inmates of the orphanage, I thought a project on them at a national forum would bring plenty of smiles on their faces,” says Pritiman, who has been helping these orphans hone their talents in the fields of music, painting and sports.
A keen quizzer and a prolific debater, Pritiman has aptly named his project ‘Churning Curves’, because he feels smile is a curve that sets everything straight. “Many of us actually fail to fathom the abundance of love these children of lesser God possess. Try bringing a smile on these faces and see how it melts even the hardest of hearts,” the 13-year-old boy asserts.
Pritiman is very confident about his project and hopes it would bring a sea change in the lives of the underprivileged inmates of the orphanage to live in a world holding their heads high. Besides making an attempt to appeal to the Odisha Chief Minister to assist the orphanage from his relief fund, Pritiman is now determined to make a national appeal for the cause of the inmates of the orphanage.
