A high level technical team led by Water Resource Department Chief Engineer (Planning and Design) Tankadhar Sahu paid a visit to Pentha sea beach in order to inspect a ruptured geo tube at the construction site of a geo tube sea wall being constructed there.
Aul Saline Embankment Division Executive Engineer Jugal Kishore Tripathy said apart from Sahu, Chief Engineer (Design) Samaresh Chandra Mohanty and Chief Engineer of lower Mahanadi Basin Satrughna Das also visited.
Notably, on Monday last, while a geo synthetic tube was laid on the site along with sand and water filling, it ruptured. So, the geo tube sea wall construction work was stopped.
To ascertain the exact reason of rupturing of the geo synthetic tube, a two-member expert team from IIT Chennai is scheduled to visit the construction site next week.
Whether the sand broke open from the geo tube due to manufacture defect in stitching or due to technical error of sand filling will be confirmed after the experts examine the tube, informed Tripathy.
