Tension erupted at the Sri Maa Women’s College on Monday over the transfer of two lecturers as agitating students sat on a dharna in front of the college gate protesting the transfer.
The teachers to get transferred are Sushanta Kumar Sahu of Poliical Science and Jyotsna Patra of Home Science Departments.
The students said that the duo was being transferred in the middle of the academic session and no new teachers had so far been replaced against the vacancies. They said that this would affect their studies.
However, after the assurance of college Principal Kunjabana Prusty that he would draw the attention of the higher authorities in this regard, the aggrieved students called off the strike.
