Teachers' strike won't hit exams: Min

Even as the Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum’s agitation reached the eleventh day on Saturday, Higher Education Minister Ananta Das said that the upcoming High School Certificate (HSC) and Plus Two examinations would not be affected and would be held as per the schedule.

“The Government is fully prepared to conduct the examinations. Even if the teachers and staff of schools and colleges do not cooperate, the Government will be able to hold the examinations,” Das said to mediapersons.

He further said that as the model code of conduct is in force for the upcoming Bijepur by-poll, the Government is unable to bring out a notification on the decision taken regarding the demands of the agitating teachers and staffs.

On Friday, the forum had decided to continue their agitation after discussions with Minister Das and Higher Education Secretary GVV Sharma at the State Secretariat failed.

Notably, the forum members are staging a dharna at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here demanding withdrawal of the clause for submission of affidavits to avail grant-in-aid.
