The State Government has no information regarding teaching being affected in schools due to midday meal (MDM) monitoring responsibilities entrusted to teachers, informed School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra in the State Assembly on Thursday.
In a written reply to a question Chiranjib Biswal (Congress), the Minister said the MDM operation has been entrusted to School Managing Committees and investigation responsibilities to teachers as per the Right to Education Act 2009.
He, however, informed that guidelines have been issued to manage MDM responsibilities by the School MDM Implementing Agency (SMIA) instead of giving the same to teachers in Boudh and Jajpur districts. Cooks and assistants have been employed through NOGs to prepare MDMs in schools across the State, he said.
