Teachers not to submit affidavits for GID

Published on:

The State Government's provision for compulsory submission of affidavits to avail grant-in-aid (GID) facility has been waived.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken a decision in this regard looking at the demands of the different teachers' bodies.

According to a CMO release, the teachers will not file affidavit but they would give in writing about the cases they filed in courts so that the State Government will be aware about such cases.

The teachers had alleged that the affidavit for GID was a violation of their fundamental rights.

They threatened to boycott the forthcoming HSC and Plus-II examinations if the State Government does not take back the proposed affidavit.

About 5,000 agitating teachers had taken out a 'padayatra' from the Sri Gundicha Temple in Puri on February 8 to press for their demands and continued staging demonstration at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg for last five days.
