The annual increment of 62 primary schoolteachers, including headmasters of about 28 schools, in Subdega block was stopped for poor performance of the students.

This was done after show-cause notices were issued to them by the District Education Office allegedly for their negligence in providing required attention to the students of Class-III scholarship examination. The students of these schools reportedly performed very badly as they scored very poorly.

Sources said following a review by the Subdega Block Education Officer (BEO) recently, it came to his notice that due to lack of proper attention of school authorities, the students of these schools have not performed well in the examinations.

Significantly, this scholarship examination is conducted by the District Education Department, mainly with the objective of creating a competitive atmosphere among the students from primary level.

Subdega block BEO Ajay Ekka said considering the poor performance of the students in the scholarship examination, it was concluded that teachers and headmasters of these schools have not given required attention despite directives.

While action was initiated against the teachers who did not follow the directive in this respect, the district education office is going to felicitate the teachers, whose schools participated and performed well in the examination, he stated.
