The retrenched six teachers, who were on a fast on-to-death stir in the PPl plant site in Paradip for from December 31, called off their agitation on Saturday after Paradip-Ersama Development Council president Bapi Sarkhel assured them of help. Sarkhel said he would take up the matter with the civil administration and the PPl authorities and urged them to provide jobs to them in PPl plant on contract basis soon.

According to information, the teachers lead by headmaster Ramakanta Behera resorted to agitation after a primary school was closed down after the PPl management refused to sponsor. They were allegedly denied eight months’ salary.
