The Mayurbhanj unit of the newly-formed School-College Teachers-Employees’ United Forum at its well-attended convention here on Friday demanded immediate scrapping of the Block Grant system and also cleansing of all other ills from the prevailing educational system.

If their demands are not met, eight different teachers’ organisations and the Odisha Siksha Suraksha Manch would jointly launch an indefinite strike from August 16, the forum leaders warned.

The convention, held at the Purna Chandra Smruti Madhyamik Shikshak Bhavan near the local Murgabadi Golei, saw the participation of 662-category and 488-category college lecturers and also different sections of school teachers. Teacher leaders like Bharat Chandra Baral, Duryodhan Behera, Sangram Keshari Mallik, Balaram Das, Chittaranjan Palata, Vijay Pandit and Jnana Ranjan Panigrahi coordinated the programme.
