Even though the State Government had on Wednesday ordered immediate suspension of the absentee examiners appointed for Plus Two answer sheets evaluation, the teachers stuck to their stand and continued their strike on Thursday.
From issuing threats of suspension to lodging FIR and clamping prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in front of evaluation centres, the Government’s efforts failed to end the teachers’ agitation, which entered its ninth day on Thursday. The teachers under the banner of the All Odisha School, College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum have been continuing with their agitation demanding issuance of a notification regarding withdrawal of the affidavit clause prescribed in the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Policy-2017 along with fulfillment of six other demands.
“It is almost end of the first phase of evaluation but so far only 20 per cent answer copies have been evaluated. We are not afraid even if the State Government is now on a confrontation mode,” said All Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum convener Pavitra Mahala.
With the teachers still sticking to their guns, the State Government on the day asked the evaluation teachers to increase the number of evaluation of answer sheets from 15 to 20 per day.
However, the School and Mass Education Minister, when asked by reporters, did not comment on the issue, which has led to apprehensions of delay in publication of results.
