A school teacher in Malkangiri district allegedly tonsured the head of a Class X student for making jokes by holding hair of another child. The victim boy, Rakesh Mandal, of the MV-26 area in the district, fled from the hostel after the angry teacher partially tonsured his head. The boy had stopped taking food and refused to attend classes after being humiliated by the teacher. The incident took place at the hostel of the Netaji High School at Pitakata village on Friday night. The school’s Hindi teacher Babula Nayak, who was also staying at the hostel along with his family members, allegedly chased the boy and cut his hair. The boy was accused of holding hair of the teacher’s child and threatened to cut it. “We have lodged a complaint with the police and drawn attention of the district Collector after the accused teacher refused to say sorry for his act,” said the boy’s father Sudhir Mandal. Stating that his son has refused to appear at the ensuing annual high school examination scheduled in February, he demanded action against the teacher.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the teacher at the Malkangiri police station.
