In a shameful incident, the Balikuda police in Jagatsinghpur district detained a schoolteacher for allegedly showing obscene photos to girl students through his mobile phone recently.
Prasanna Paitala, a Mathematics teacher at the Malikapur High School under the Balikuda police limits had reportedly shown the objectionable pictures to three girl students after inviting them to clear their doubts relating to studies.
The students also alleged that the teacher misbehaved with them besides showing the objectionable photos.
After the incident came to the fore, villagers reported the matter to the headmaster and the school managing committee. But as the authorities didn’t take any action, some villagers thrashed the teacher in the school premises.
On being informed, police reached the spot and detained the teacher for questioning.
