Rudra Narainpur Primary School within Ghasipura block teacher Mangesh Behera was nabbed by the Ramchandrapur police on charges of fraud and sent to judicial custody.

The Ghasipura Block Education Officer suspended the errant teacher and the latter was directed to report in the Banar Sena Nodal Primary School at Sainkul on daily basis. Instead of reporting at headquarters, Behera went on committing more nefarious offences and again was arrested. He is now lodged in the Anandpur Sub-Jail.

Locals alleged that a notorious ‘racket’ in Keonjhar district education office was collecting money to safeguard the habitual offenders like Behera. Reliable sources said that a local voluntary organisation is preparing to file a public interest litigation petition in the Orissa High Court in this regard if Behera was not terminated and the vacancies of teachers in the school were not filled in a week.

“The Chief Minister’s strict order to adhere to the 5T has been a mockery in our district in spite of 5-T Secretary VK Pandiyan’s recent Keonjhar trip, ”lamented Keonjhar against Corruption president Krishna Chandra Barik. “The CM’s slogans are confined to higher officers like OAS and CDMO only," he added.
