Out of the 12 candidates contesting for the Khariar Assembly constituency, one is interestingly a Block Grant school teacher of Khariar block.
Sanyasi Dash, a teacher in the Gopinath High School of Sunari Sikuan village in Khariar block, has filed his nominations on the Samajwadi Party ticket. He is working in this school for more than 15 years.The District Education Officer (DEO) of Nuapada has informed that Sanyasi Dash had sent an application by registered post to the DEO stating that he needed emergency leave from school work. Dash sent the letter on March 21 and filed his nomination papers on March 22.
The DEO has conducted an inquiry and informed the higher authorities about Dash. “I sent a registered letter to the concerned teacher immediately disallowing his leave. There is no provision of giving emergency leave and the teacher is not supposed to send the leave application to me,” said the DEO.“We have already received information from the election section of the district about filing of nominations by the teacher. All relevant documents will be sent to the Director, Secondary Education for further action,” the DEO added.
