The Nilgiri police arrested a 35-year old teacher of a private school on the charge of sexually exploiting a 29-year old woman and forwarded him to court under various sections of the IPC and SC and ST Atrocity Prevention Act.
The accused identified as Sanjib Das of Debagaon under Udla block of Mayurbhanj district was arrested on Saturday from his in- laws’ house in Baripada while he was absconding ever since an FIR was lodged against him nine months ago.
The accused had physical relationship with the victim of Nilgiri for about 3 years when both of them were serving in a private school in Podasul under Nilgiri police station limits. Das had promised to marry the girl but later ditched. Subsequently, he quit the job and absconded from there. The victim, however, learnt that the accused had got a job in another private school in Mayurbhanj and married another woman.
She had lodged a FIR in November last year. “The accused was absconding and he was forwarded to court after beingbooked under sections of cheating, rape and criminal intimidation etc,” said Nilgiri SDPO SR Mahapatra.
