The Mahakalpada police on Sunday detained Ranjit Mandal, a teacher of a Government-run primary school, for allegedly sending lewd SMSes to a married woman’s mobile phone and also passing lewd remarks to her over the last two months.
Mahakalpada police station IIC Padarbinda Tripathy said one Kajalprava Mandal, wife of Palas Mandal of Bada Tubi, lodged an FIR against Ranjit that he was sending lewd SMSes to her mobile phone. She informed that she had first sought to settle the issue by approaching Ranjit’s wife, but in vain.
Kajalprava later brought the matter before her husband and family members. Ranjit was told not to commit the nuisance but at this, Ranjit and his brother Bhola mandal got berserk, came to her house and went on assaulting her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law. Ranjit allegedly kicked on Kajalprava’s abdomen and threatened to rape her by killing her family members.
