Netranand Dandsena, the main accused in the Tikiri woman schoolteacher burning case was arrested from Seshakhal on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border on Wednesday evening.

“We arrested Netranand from Pitmahal Dhaba near Seshakhal, 20 km from Rayagada town, and brought him to Tikiri,” said Rayagada SDPO Y Jagannath Rao.

Dandsena was on the run after the teacher Itishree Pradhan, a Shiksha Sahayak of Tikiri UP School, was set on fire by an unidentified person while she was sleeping in her room in the school hostel on Sunday night. Dandsena is believed to have been behind the barbaric incident because Itishree had filed complaints with the police and the School and Mass Education Department authorities against him for trying to outrage her modesty. Itishree who sustained about 90 per cent burn injuries is battling for life.
