Narayan Behera, a teacher attached to Kishorenagar block in Angul district, was arrested by the Vigilance police for taking bribe in the block office on Friday.
After accepting the bribe of `4,000 from Anadi Charan Behera, Headmaster, Boinda Primary School, as per his previous demand, he kept the money under his office table cloth.
He had demanded the bribe from Anadi Charan Behera to process his application for stepping up his pay at par with his (Narayan Behera’s). Narayan Behera is getting Rs 1,000 more being seven years’ Anadi Behera.
In another such case, Sarat Chandra Sethi, Amin in the office of the Project Director, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Subarnarekha Irrigation Project, laxmiposi, Baripada (on deputation from the office of Special land Acquisition Officer, Baripada) was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers in front of a cabin at laxmiposi while accepting bribe of Rs 13,000 from laxman Biruli of village Bijaybasa under Tiring PS.
He had demanded the bribe from Biruli for submitting a field verification report in connection with his claims and the claims of his sons under the rehabilitation package. The bribe money was recovered from his pant pocket.
