A woman teacher of the Mahimunda Model School in Puintala block of Balangir district on Saturday brought an allegation of sexual harassment against the principal of the institution and filed a complaint in this regard with police.
As per the allegation, Principal Ashok Khatua used to misbehave and pass lewd gestures to the woman, a science teacher, and several girl students. The teacher alleged that the principal used to frequently call her to his office room and subject her to torture, including touching her body inappropriately.
She had on August 11 reported the matter to the school managing committee head, who is also the local tehsildar, but no action was taken in this regard, it was alleged.
Finding no other option, she filed the complaint with Puintala police, she said.
Principal Khatua, on the other hand, refuted the allegation and said the teacher has complained against him as he had pulled up her for coming to the school late.
