With a view to eliminating malaria in Odisha, the Tata Trusts in 2010 partnered with the Mitra-Christian Hospital, Bissam Cuttack to set up a malaria resource centre to train community-based organisations and develop feasible approaches for prevention and control of malaria at village-level.

To begin with, a MoU was signed between the Government of Odisha and the Tata Trusts on March 18, 2016 and the trust began work on malaria control and prevention activities in south Odisha for a period of five years.

In 2017, the programme integrated digital portable microscopy to ease the microscopy test and provide quality diagnosis in nine sites and introduced tab-based MIS in 230 villages to capture real-time data on malaria which can be accessed at the block, district and State levels.

Since the beginning of the programme, no deaths, due to malaria, have been reported in its operational areas.
