A district-level taskforce would be formed to keep a strict vigil on the illegal private nursing homes and diagnostic centres in Ganjam district. The Health Department gave a proposal in this regard on Wednesday.
The district Collector would be appointed as the chairman of the taskforce while a taskforce committee would be formed with four members, including the SP and the CDMO.
With this, some nursing homes would get licences while and some others’ licences would be cancelled.
Though there are many illegal private nursing homes in the district, action has not been taken against them as yet. The Clinical Establishment Act has also not been implemented properly at the district level. The taskforce’s decision would be final on the basis of the Act.
Recently, Collector Prem Chand Choudhury conducted raids on two nursing homes in Brahmapur and sealed them. The Collector also asked to issue of show-cause notices to them.
