Tardy progress of work of the 1-km road between Jameswarpatna and the Town Club in the Old Town area has irked locals. According to sources, the Rs15-lakh concrete road project was taken up in February.

“We are facing difficulties on this stretch as the contractor has dug up the road at many places and dumped chips and other materials on the road,” alleged some locals demanding immediate completion of the road.

However, another section of locals refuted the charge. “Some people on many occasions have debarred the contractor from expediting the work,” they said, adding that completion of work would certainly need some days and cause inconvenience during those days.

Two local people debarred the contractor from digging the road citing that they would face difficulties at the time of their daughters’ marriage.  Meanwhile, RD Superintendent Engineer Simatwika Moharana said he would personally look into the work for early completion.
